French Onion Soup 2

Yesterday, I posted another way to make French onion soup. The recipe below does not require French bread or hot sauce.

Which recipe do you prefer?

SERVES: 6

INGREDIENTS:

1/4 cup of butter

4 large onions, sliced into large pieces

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon flour

6 cups beef broth

1/2 cup of white wine

12 tablespoons shredded Swiss cheese

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a large pot at medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add the onions and cook until the onions are transparent. Stir in the pepper, sugar, salt, flour and broth. Lower the heat and cook for 30 minutes.

Add the wine and using high heat bring to a boil. Remove the pot from the heat ladle the soup into 6 bowls. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of cheese over each bowl.

Wait a few minutes for the cheese to melt then serve.
