Spicy Garlic Dipping Sauce

SERVES: 6

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup hot sauce like Tabasco

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (if you want it very spicy)

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 egg yolk

2 teaspoons water

2 teaspoons cornstarch

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a large saucepan, over medium heat, combine all ingredients except egg yolk, water, and cornstarch. Stir the ingredients until smooth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool for about 10 minutes.

While the sauce cools, whisk the egg yolk with 2 teaspoons water in a medium bowl for about 2 minutes. Whisk in cornstarch until dissolved. Drizzle sauce mixture into bowl that has the egg yolk mixture. Do it slowly, in a steady stream while rapidly whisking. This will create a thick, creamy sauce, and will prevent the oil from separating. Next, cover the sauce and chill until needed.

Serve with vegetables, crackers and chicken wings for dipping.
