Mushroom Sauce

 

SERVES: 4

 

INGREDIENTS:

2 tablespoons butter

8 ounces sliced mushrooms

1/2 cup dry red wine

1 cup beef broth

Salt and pepper to taste

3 tablespoons flour

3 tablespoons cold water

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

 

In a skillet at medium heat, melt the butter. Then add the mushrooms and stir quickly for 3 minutes. Add the wine and cook for 3 more minutes. Slowly add the broth and lower the heat to medium-low.

 

In a bowl mix the salt, pepper, flour and cold water until smooth. Pour it into the skillet and stir until blended.

 

The sauce will thicken and start to bubble. Cook for 2 more minutes.

 

This sauce is great with beef and also eggs. Serve immediately.
