SERVES: 6

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup onion, sliced into rings

2 tablespoons butter

4 cups French Style green beans, sliced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a skillet, heat the butter. Over medium-low heat, cook the onion for about 25 minutes, stirring often, until the onion is caramel color.

In a large pot bring 2 quarts of water to a boil. Add the green beans and mushrooms. Cook for about 5 minutes. The vegetables should be tender but not soft.

In a large casserole dish, mix the green beans, milk, mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Stir in half of the caramelized onions.

Cover the dish and bake in the oven set to 350F degrees for 20 minutes. Then stir the green beans mixture, add the remaining onions on top and bake for 5 minutes, uncovered.

Let the casserole stand 10 minutes before serving.
